The final words of his speech said, “…Let me take this opportunity to thank the thousands of you who supported me throughout my 26 years in active politics. Thank you, also, to those who opposed and challenged me. You helped to keep me sharp….”

“Our fundamental objectives as a non-profit organization are first, supporting the inspiration, empowerment, education, developments, and well being of women, children, and families in the West Indies; providing relief to victims of natural disasters; and finally, providing financial and other support to include care, compassion, council, and comfort to the needy men, women, and children in the West Indies.”

It was a historic conference being the first time that a regional public discussion with top government officials and other leaders has been organized to advance the economic agenda of the region. The economy and the way forward for the countries of the OECS are current on every body’s mind and as such a discussion of this magnitude was not only timely but also very necessary.

By the second month of 2009, Montserrat had lost two irreplaceable assets of its current society and history.

DanceExcell, with its motto Dancing with Excellence, staged a spectacular show at Montserrat’s Cultural Centre at the end of January. The show was entitled “The Journey, Step by Step” reflecting the journey which DanceExcell has taken since its founding in 2004, with the group being divided into four “steps” by age. Step ladders as props on the stage, and footprints on the backdrop and in the front of the stage, accentuated this theme.

“This has truly been an amazing experience for me. Following the traditions of giving a vote of thanks at the end of each event, I would like to now thank each person that has welcomed me tot this special island and included me in their lives and culture.”

“This specially designed event will provide children with an opportunity to learn about our underwater world and give snorkeling or scuba diving a try. The day will begin at noon with an hour of classroom instruction on the coral reefs and their importance to the marine environment, as well as fish identification basics. Then, it’s off to the beach for ‘discover snorkeling’ and ‘discover scuba’ training with our staff.”

The Government of Montserrat says the funding for Phase 2 is approximately US$250,000. Exploration activities will take place in areas around Cork Hill, Richmond Hill, Foxes Bay, and Sturge Park.

His excellency the Governor has agreed to the Chief Minister’s request that the Legislative Assembly of Montserrat be dissolved immediately and that a general election be held on 8 September 2008.

On June 15, 2009, Montserrat’s Governor, H.E. Mr. Peter Waterworth, revoked the ministerial appointments of the Hon. Roselyn Cassell Sealy and the Hon. Rueben T. Meade.
