The RFA Fort George is scheduled to visit Montserrat from the 15th to the 20th of July 2009 as part of the UK Government’s continued support in developing the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Program to the region.
According to the Media Office for RFA Fort George, “During the visit a number of calls will be made on civil dignitaries and local people to work together towards gaining an improved understanding of the island’s contingency planning in the event of a natural disaster.”
A primary role of RFA Fort George is to supply Royal Navy, NATO, and other allied ships, whilst at sea, with fuel, food, stores, and ammunition to remain operational while deployed.
