Montserrat’s current premiere summer festival began 11 July and will conclude on 19 July 2009.

This year’s Calabash Festival celebrations began with a family fun day; a fashion show; and a neighborly day, which began with an early morning hike followed by a prayer and thanksgiving service.

The Government Information Unit (GIU) says, “A number of exciting events and activities are planned for the remainder of the week. Some of these include: a calabash exhibition at the Montserrat National Trust; island tours; Dr. George Irish Lecture Series; sacred musical recitals; a food fair; hikes; and boat tours to Plymouth.”

The grand finale takes place on Saturday, 19 July 2009, with a gala evening of music at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.
