According to the Governor’s Office in Montserrat, discussions have been held regarding preparations for a swine flue outbreak.
The Governor’s Office says, “NDPRAC met on 26 June to discuss Montserrat’s preparation for an outbreak of H1 N1 (Swine Flu) following the declaration of a global pandemic and the confirmation of an outbreak in Antigua.”
A Governor’s House press release dated 26 June 2009 reports that NDPRAC was informed that plans had been kept under review and adapted to the changing situation. Substantial stocks of TAMIFLU, to treat potential victims, are available on island.
The Governor’s Office adds that monitoring and adaptation of the plan will continue throughout the election campaign and beyond, and NDPRAC will meet as necessary.
