Montserrat’s Government Information Unit (GIU) reports that Chief Minister, Dr. Lowell Lewis, attended the 2nd Joint Meeting of the OECS Authority and the East Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Monetary Council Meeting of Officials in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prior to his departure on 18 June 2009, Chief Minister Lewis highlighted some of the issues scheduled to be discussed at the meeting.
According to Dr. Lewis, the following items are scheduled for discussion on the meeting’s agenda: economic union issues; the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago association with the OECS Economic Union; the role of the economic union task force; the future role of the OECS Secretariat; the effect of the Global financial situation on the economies of the OECS member states; and the status of the eight point economic plan.
The Chief Minister said that he was happy to announce that discussions on the possibility of Inter Island Ferry Travel within member states was also on the agenda.
