Manager of the Bank of Montserrat reveals another perspective of the Bank’s social and corporate responsibility.

Antoine Doldron reports that the Bank’s scholarship assistance program for sixth graders entering the Secondary School is another aspect of the Bank’s corporate and social responsibility.

Mr. Doldron clarified that the program is a financial assistance program that focuses on students entering first form of the Montserrat Secondary School.

Antoine Doldron reveals, “Our decision to do this came out of a desire to make a contribution to education specifically, but on a wider scale to the economic development of Montserrat.”

According to the Bank of Montserrat’s new Operations Manager, Ms. Bernadette Matthews, the performance criteria includes five criteria, namely the demonstration of good behavior; regular and punctual attendance at school; performance beyond the regular requirement; and extra-curricular involvement — sports, music, storytelling, and art, etc.

The Bank reports that each principal from the three primary schools will select the two students from Grade 6.

Based on the selections, each student will be offered financial assistance which will cover most of their expenses related to attending the Montserrat Secondary School.

The Bank of Montserrat is celebrating its 20th anniversary and, according to Mr. Doldron, “The bank is committed to the development of the community at large.”
