The Montserrat Tourist Board (MTB) and the Montserrat Fisheries Co-op hosted their third annual international fishing tournament, since 1995’s volcanic eruption.

Fifty-two fishermen and 14 boats participated in the 14th annual Montserrat Fishing Tournament. Seven of the 14 boats were from Antigua, Nevis, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten.

‘Sea Brat’ from Nevis took the prize for the champion boat, and its crew received $2,500EC. The $2,500EC prize was donated by the MTB. Sea Brat also received additional prizes in three other categories, the largest wahoo, the largest fish caught by a lady; and for catching the most fish.

Other prizes included the largest tuna caught and largest fish caught by a youth. Thomas Sheill of ‘Lady Desnee’ won the prize for the largest tuna caught, and Emarie Estwick won the prize for the largest fish caught by a youth.
