On October 31, 2008, generations of Montserratians felt pride as the West Indies Cricket Board announced that Lionel Baker was selected as part of the West Indies Cricket Team, the first person to be selected for the West Indies Cricket team from Montserrat.
The West Indies Cricket team was slated to play a one day series with Pakistan and a test series against New Zealand.
Lionel Baker, a Montserratian, is currently on tour with the West Indies Cricket team. He drew three wickets in his debut game.
Previously, Lionel Baker was part of the Montserrat Under 19 Cricket team. Additionally, Lionel Baker received $200,000US for his participation as a reserve player in this year’s Stanford 20/20 squad against England.
Mr. Baker also signed a contract for the 2009 English County Season with Leicestershire, adding it to a growing list of achievements to be proud of.
