University of the West Indies
On Friday, 29 August 2008, the University of the West Indies (UWI) branch of Montserrat will host its annual lecture in the Jim Allen Lecture series at the Brades, Arts, and Education Centre.
This year’s lecture is jointly organized by the UWI and the Chief Minister’s Office.
Mr. Brij Parasnath will present the 8th lecture in the Jim Allen Lecture Series. Mr. Parasnath, an editor of the “Global Soccer” and the “Cricket Records” sports publications in Trinidad.
According to Gracelyn Cassell, the Resident Tutor for Montserrat’s UWI campus, “Mr. Parasnath, who has been a practicing journalist for over thirty five years and a cricket sports commentator for thirty years, has chosen to speak on the topic ‘Sports as a Nation Builder and a Career’ and will use Jim Allen’s achievements and the achievements of other sports figures in the region to make the case.”
Ms. Cassell went on to says, “He will be providing insights for the youngsters interested in sports as a career and for the policy-maker wanting to widen the impact of sports in the community.
